Being involved in the project while still in design phase, ensured Portolesi Consulting could create the most suitable joint sealing system for the concrete expansion and shrinkage joints. Noting that 100% failure had occurred on all other similar projects Australia wide to that point. The project, which consists of 141,000m of saw-cut joints in the 14 km concrete roadway, required a very different application system to maintain the low noise surface required.  While concrete roads are common, significant sealant failure has plagued the process as often, this sealing is either self-performed by the head contractor or by companies not experienced in this type of work. Having many years of experience in developing caulking systems as specialised consultant to caulking applications, Portolesi Consulting was able to determine where failures on other previous projects arose from. They then modified the installation process to ensure that these fail points were eliminated.

Unlike all other projects, the NCP has experienced 0% failure, and the PC system is now being introduced nationally as the standard caulking procedure for concrete road-ways.
